Change from floor mat to a motion detector
« on: November 13, 2004, 10:31:06 PM »
I have a  DSC 832 panel, but no keypad.

I have a floor pad alarm now but I want to change it to a  Motion detector.

My question is,can I use the same wires and connect it to the same posts without having any problems ? I dont know if my alarm co. has a lockout or not .What might happen if they do ?

There is no off & on switch .Should I kill the power first or can I change it while its hot?
        Thank you in advance   :D

You should be able to switch them out just fine, just make sure you wire it up correctly and you should definitely power the sys down before doing so, just to prevent shorting out the power wires.

Keep in mind that most floor mats were NO devices.  Either get a motion with a NO contact, or you may have to reprogram or relocate EOL.
