Aritech Z900 does not detect door zone
« on: September 05, 2010, 06:02:24 PM »
I have 3 doors connected to one zone on Aritech Z900.  I recently discovered the alarm does not recognize any of the doors in this zone (the red light does not come on the control panel when any of these doors are open, and the system lets you set the alarm even if these doors are open - needless to say, the alarm also does not sound if one of these doors are opened while the alarm is ON).  The owners manual does not have a troubleshooting section to address this issue.  The installer is long gone.  Is this a repairable item?

The Z900 is a very simple and basic panel.  Do you know what zone number these doors are?  Has an alarm recently occured?  it could be stuck in alarm memory mode, too.  Try pressing * a few times.

Start with going to the panel and physically disconnecting the loop wires from the corresponding zone terminals.  That should fault the zone and you should see the LED.

Pressing and holding the 6 key will enable a chime feature that will cause the keypads to sound when a zone opens.  That's pretty good for basic troubleshooting.  At the very worst, the zone could be out on the system, if you have an unused zone, we can move it onto there and program it.
