z950 EOL Resistors?
« on: December 22, 2011, 07:46:56 AM »
I have a Moose z950 system installed in a house that we just bought.  I think I'm gonna replace it with a DSC system, but keep the hardwired contacts.  Can anyone tell me if I can expect there to already be EOL resistors on the Moose system?  I haven't looked yet, but assume I could look or check the resistance of the circuit - right?  What should the resistance be for it to be compatible with a DSC system?

Thanks.

Look in the panel - the standard procedure from most installers is to wire them in series in the panel instead of at the actual end of the circuit.  In the rare chance that they were installed at the devices, you'll have to pull the contacts out and replace the resistors.  The Moose panel uses 2.2K resistors, the DSC will use 5.6K.  The resistors will come with the new panel.

fantastic.  thanks.

I will look when I get home, but I'm pretty sure there are no resistors at the panel.

Is it ok to wire them at the panel?  i suppose it doesn't make much difference, huh?

thanks again.
