Program DSC 1832 for 2-Wire Smoke Det
« on: February 16, 2015, 02:38:13 PM »
I've installed a 2wire DSC smoke det to my 1832 panel in the PGM 2 slot.  I've tried testing the detector using the magnet but nothing happens.  I'm trying to read the programming guide to get this thing setup properly, but this seems to be difficult.  I've programmed the Burg side of the system okay, but there seems to be so many conflicting settings.

Can someone help with the exactly sequences I need to do to make sure it's enable correctly.  I had a small fire in my basement the other night which filled the house with smoke, it would have been nice if the system worked then.   Thanks to anyone who responds.

just program PGM2 for type 04 (I think) 2-wire smoke support.  Install the 2.2k resistor at the last smoke.  red to aux+, black to pgm2

I use canned smoke to test, not 100% sure if the magnet does it.

You supposed to test the detector when you install it :)

So is it just one detector or there are many of them daisy chained? Basically what Magnum Alert said above :) You can also try removing it from the base and checking the keypad - it should display trouble. Also - what is the LED status on the detector itself?

DSC smokes without the sounder indeed tested with a magnet, smokes with the sounder have a small button to push. Which exact model do you have?
