Hi

Purchasing our first home.  System isn't very old (1-2 years).  Has 2 2gig pads, plus motion sensors, doors, etc.

Looking to use the system in place.  Had called vivant, but they wanted to replace the whole system or parts of it and they keep us to a 42 month contract and like $65/month.  A lot of money

I tested out the master control password on the device pad from what I found on the internet (still set to the default password).  Was wondering if there are any recommendations for monitoring service providers, possibly one that works with remote ability (has a light switched and the link thermometers).

Thanks

The panels are easy to unlock and take over and switch monitoring of. Just replace the 3G cellular module (approx. $80-$100), update the panel firmware for free to latest (v1.13),  and get a no contract month2month remote interactive/central station monitoring plan. Last step is to have the new provider use airfx to remotely disable Q44 lockout (set to "0")

The best deal out there is SuretyDIY ($15-$27/month, they disable all Q44 panel lockouts automatically, no contracts, free top notch online support via forum (being a customer is not required to take advantage of the free support), free alarm.com activation,  home automation, image sensors, etc) just Google them.

With firmware 1.13 the Vivint/2GIG Go!Control panel supports Telguard, Uplink, and Alarm.com backend remote interactive services. As well as Broadband IP internet connectivity via the Go! Bridge (which requires panel firmware 1.12 or higher).

There are multiple resources online where you can download the firmware for free (Google it), but you will need the 2GIG firmware update cable (2GIG-UPCBL2) which runs around $20 on newegg, eBay, amazon, suretydiy, etc.

Alarm Monitoring. Try Alarm Relay Only $8.95 per Month.800-560-1003

You did see the  part in his post where he states he wants empower home automation (lights, thermostats)?

In any event, the alarm relay advice will not help the OP.

$8.95 alarm  relay/watchlight price is for telephone monitoring only (not cellular or broadband), POTS/telephone cannot enable alarm.com remote interactive services, or empower home automation.

The locked panel can also not be unlocked via POTS (telephone), which meansnthe CSID cannot be reset, and CS numbers cannot be programmed. the only option for a locked Vivint/2GIG panel is alarm.com/airfx remote unlocking.

Last time I checked, alarm relay requires 1yr contracts, and charges $37/month for  remote interactive/empower home automation (light and tstat) services for 2GIG with a hefty $60 alarm.com activation fee.

Also, they charge for technical support ($35).

Has this changed?
