ShieldLab Forum Administration
« on: January 16, 2016, 03:05:08 PM »
After the extended downtime, now seems like a good time to discuss the hosting of this forum.

Clearly I am new around here, and do not have much at stake.  However, this is an excellent resource.  Between the registered users, and the history, I would hate to see the forum fall in to disrepair.

So, who is actively maintaining the site?  Would it make sense to get a database dump to several members? Etc.

I'm not sure who if anyone is actively managing this site, it seems to be owned by Shield Lab a retailer of fine alarm products and locks but I don't think they actively monitor or read it.

I'm not sure if it was related but I e-mailed their tech support address asking about the forum the morning before they fixed it but clearly someone there cares enough about it to fix it up for us....

Also this is totally the wrong category for this post... There's a section called "Give us Your Input on this Forum" it should be there, not in "Security system technical support"

Ahhh...  Glad to see it wasn't just me.  The morning the site went down, I had installed AdBlock in Chrome.  Later, I went to check into this forum and it was down.  Thought it was the AdBlock extension causing it.

Nice to see y'all again.

Looks like it started off with a database error and lasted for a few days.  Glad they brought it back up! :-D

Nice to find this thread as I'm facing a problem in this forum, especially when posting my thoughts. The problem is: Unlike many other forums, here after making a post, it is redirecting to the subcategory of the forum where I posted rather than showing me my post done. Can anyone fix this glitch?
