OpenSource Central Station software
« on: February 04, 2017, 06:25:55 AM »
Is it possible to simulate a Central Station to which my Honeywell 5200 alarm send status and alerts ?

Since the format is pretty standardized (CID or SIA), are there any opensource or low cost software that I could host and then program the panel to transmit signal to that software ?

This is perfect. I run my own Asterisk server, so I could try this out.

Now the challenge is I have an Honeywell L5200 that doesnt have a phone line option. It is GSM or Wifi IP only.

1. Do know of any software that can receive Contact ID or SIA using IP ?

2. How does L5200 connect using IP ? Does it simulate Contact ID or SIA tones using voice signalling over IP or is it a proper TCP connection ?

Your SOL if it has no phone line...it uses an encrypted closed protocol ip connection to talk to alarmnet and there's no key bus to tap into... You will have to get a Vista system or pay for monitoring with total connect I'm afraid..

Contact ID and SIA are analog protocols...

I spoke to soon. The panel does have phone line connection but not the 8-position jack. I have to strip the wire and connect them to the screws. Will try.

By the way, I downloaded the Honeywell Ademco 7810PC software alarm receiver, but obviously it needs a license to run.

Know of any other software that can serve as a receiver and either has opensource or demo versions available ?

I was surprised when you said it had no phone line but I'm not super familiar with the Lynx line..

Everything from Honeywell will be paid and closed source.. Your best bet is the asterisk plug-in if you don't want to spend a bunch of money.
