Vista 20p and 5881en keypad help
« on: February 06, 2017, 05:51:49 PM »
I started this little project with the simple goal of trying to monitor my home via smartphone. I bought a EVL4 chip, attempted to install it on my Vista 20se board, no luck.
Just bought and wired up a vista 20p, got the evl4 running, but now my keypads (3) are all unresponsive. The 5881en keypads show a green light and do not turn off when any door is opened. Do I need to reprogram each keypad? Do I need to upgrade to a 6150 or 6160 keypad instead? Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be extremely appreciated.

5881en is a wireless receiver, not a keypad.

Thank you for clarifying. Any idea why the system is unresponsive?

What keypads do you have?  Are you sure that you haven't overloaded the aux power terminals?
Are the keypads configured for addresses 16, 17, 18 and have 17 and 18 been enabled?

Take it a step at a time.  Disconnect two of the keypads.  Configure the remaining one at address 16.  Power cycle the system since hardware is only discovered at power on.

If you kept your old keypads I think the SE isn't addressable, you need to disconnect the EVL and all but one keypad and set that keypad to address 16 (by holding 1+3 at powerup)

Then you need to go into programming, enable each keypad 17,18,19, etc. and give unique addresses to each one including your EVL.
