Caddx nx-6 aux output to trigger security light
« on: January 13, 2018, 02:25:19 PM »
Hi guys, I want to trigger a 12v security led light on AC fail in my nx-6 panel. How should I wire a relay to the panel's AUX output and the light? Also what is the exact programming of the panel for this purpose?

Thanks

Simple enough . . . . you wire up a small 12 volt control relay - + connection from the relay goes to the Aux + power output the relay - goes to the output in question.
.
Programming:
.
Locations 46, 47 and 48
.
46 segment 1 set to '9' (AC Fail)
47 segment 1 set to '0'
48 segment 1 set to '0' (Follow)
.
Segments 2-4 of 46 and 47, and segment 2 of 48 and 'don't care' if you use no other outputs.

I am not able to make the Aux output work on the condition of AC Fail. It works with other conditions like Armed stay or Armed away, but not on AC Fail. I test it on my bench with a NX6
v2 panel by unplugging the AC cord but nothing happens in the AUX output. What am I doing wrong?

Not a Caddx tech, but most manufacturers incorporate a time delay for AC failure.  Might look into that.  Try leaving the AC off for about an hour or so unless you can find a timer.

Parameter 40, segment 2
.
Or, you could just put a small AC-powered relay or opto-isolator across the transformer output and not bother going through the panel at all.
