Wiring problem on Fire Alarm
« on: March 13, 2019, 03:29:52 AM »
Hi Guys.

Would like your thoughts on this.
Working in a nursing home and have found the smoke detectors and break glasses to be wired in twin and earth.
Pretty sure this was ok years ago but surely it should have been upgraded to by now.

They appear to have a company who are happy to certify the system each year but as they want some detectors moved I need a licensed electrician to get some inputs regarding it.

Anyone up on the fire alarm regs?

'Twin & earth' - addressable?  Sounds about right to me if the cable meets spec - but things might be different where you are.

What do the glassbreaks have to do with the FA?

You might want to specify where you are located, since rules are jurisdiction-based.
